Honeywell at the Double

Honeywell Junior School had a couple of days to remember when they won two prestigious competitions in Wandsworth, winning through to the London Youth Games Quicksticks Hockey and the Premier League Football final.

The first victory came in the Chelsea FC Premier League Football competition at Southfields organised by Chelsea and Wandsworth School Games. The competition was hotly contested by 11 primary schools all coverting the winning prize of representing Chelsea in the national final at Anfield stadium. After an afternoon of competitive and high quality football, Honeywell and Hillbrook schools won through to the final. In a tense affair, neither team could break the deadlock in normal time. Following some fantastic saves from the Honeywell keeper, the tide was turned by a great goal from Honeywell who then hung on for the win.

They will now travel to Liverpool to represent Chelsea FC in the national Final.

Twenty-Four hours later, Honeywell were back at the same venue and quickly got into the stride in the Wandsworth Quicksticks competition with an 8-0 victory. 15 schools played some fantastic hockey, but were unable to stop Honeywell repeating their victory in the Quicksticks. They will now go on to represent Wandsworth in the London Youth Games final at Crystal Palace on 27th March.
