Sporting Champions 2013
Southfields Academy hosted the annual Wandsworth Sporting Champions festival for young disabled students in the borough. 34 children from Linden Lodge, Oak Lodge, and Paddock Schools took part in the event led by sports leaders from Southfields Academy & Burntwood.
There was a festive feel to the day with the students taking part in adapted games such as Christmas Kurling, Santa's Skittles, Basketball and a new Cricket game called the Adapted Ashes.
The event was organised by Nick Miller from Southfields Academy and Tim Richmond from Linden Lodge as part of the Project Ability programme.
Mr Richmond said, "It was fantastic to see so many of the students taking part in the games and enjoying themselves at the same time. He also praised the sports leaders working with the younger children. It is not easy to provide activities for students with a wide range of disabilities, but the leaders were excellent and ensured that all the children were involved and had fun".
