Football has well and truely kicked off in Wandsworth Secondary Schools this term with football for all ages. Girls have been involved already in a round robin 6 a side competition and the boys Football League has successfully started also.
There was a good turn out for the Yr9/10 Girls Football on Wednesday, with 7 teams participating in the stand alone tournament. Southfields B finished the day in first, congratulations! Southfields A and Chestnut Grove picked up the minor placings.
Nick Miller, PDM said,'The standard was very good today. Higher than we've had in the past. There were a number of teams that could have won on the day.' Along with the quality of football, there was also plenty of support on the sidelines for all the teams. Well done to all teams involved.
The boys league has also started with St Cecilia's, Ashcroft, Elliott and Southfields already having kicked off their season. Ashcroft recorded 2 convincing wins against St Cecilia's and have shown they mean business this season. Both teams played well and tried their hardest. The 6th form competition made a start in an entertaining end to end game. Elliott and Southfields played out a 5-5 draw. Many more teams are expected to kick off their seasons next week. There will be more news to follow. Best of luck to all the teams!
