Are you Xperienced?

The Wandsworth School Sport Partnership has gained significant funding from NHS Wandsworth to run Physical Activities Programme for young people in Wandsworth aged 10-14 years who could benefit from being more physically active and would like to try some new and exciting activities. 

Xperience is a free programme and includes adventurous activities such as climbing, orienteering, kayaking and cycling led by experience and qualified tutors. 

With the funding the School Sport Partnership has been able to provide eight sessions after school on a Monday evening at the Aspire Centre and Wimbledon Park Boating Lake. 40 students from schools including Southfields, Elliott, St Cecilia’s, Sacred Heart, Heathmere, Albemarle, Southmead and Ronald Ross have been attending the sessions.

In addition, to this the SSP ran the Xperience holiday programme at the Aspire Centre during the October half term break. 26 students new students attended the 4 day course and were able to participate in a wide number of physical activities including Cycling, climbing, canoeing, orienteering, fitness, cricket, golf, basketball, boxercise, streetdance and handball.

The feedback from the children and parents involved has been extremely positive about Xperience.

Savannah a Year 6 student from Albemarle said, ”It was a great experience and I was able to do activities that I had never done before”.

While Chris from Southfields said,” It was fantastic, it had a variety of things you wouldn’t normally do”

Xperience will continue in the New Year with another After School programme and a holiday course during the February half term break.
