Hillbrook Football League

The Hillbrook league has kicked off again this year with eight teams from the local area, entering this year. Each team will play each other twice on the large grass pitch or the 5 a side caged pitch, located on the spacious Hillbrook grounds. The league has been running well for the past few years, but with the SSCO links in the local area, the additional support was welcomed by the main organizer, Matt Casey, from Hillbrook school. With two weeks of games played so far, no one school dominated affairs. Matches were played in a good spirit, with some fine football on display. The competition also allowed schools to enter girls into the team and each of the girls playing, showed that they are more than capable of playing alongside some of the best boys in the borough. As the nights draw in, a Winter break will halt matches for the meantime. However with the addition of some SSCO indoor tournaments over the November and December months, schools will be looking to push for the title of winners of the Hillbrook league, come the New Year.
