Multi Skills Festival Fun !

It has been a busy time for Multi-Skills festivals in Wandsworth. The SSP has organised and delivered six inter-school events with several smaller intra-school festivals taking place as well.

These Multi-skills festivals focus on the basic fundamentals of agility, balance and coordination. Allowing Year 1, 2 and 3 children to participate in a range of fun games and activities alongside children from other primary schools.

At each of these festivals the School Sports Coordinator team were supported by Year 6 Young Leaders and post 16 Sports Leaders.

Due to high demand, two separate Multi-Skills festivals at Battersea Youth Centre were attended by Wix, Chesterton, Highview, Sir James Barrie, Falconbrook, St. George, Honeywell, John Burns and Christchurch Primary schools. Over 250 children took part in the activities led by sports leaders from Elliott School and young leaders from High View & Honeywell.

Sacred Heart, Roehampton, Heathmere and Granard schools attended a Festival at Roehampton Leisure Centre and a similar event held at the Wandle Leisure centre was attended by Westhill, St. Josephs and Earlsfield Primary schools.

Hillbrook school also hosted two Multi Skills Festivals inviting Year 1&2 students from neighbouring schools;Holy Ghost, St Boniface & Fircroft. These were led by Year 6 students from Hillbrook.

An outdoor Multi-Skills festival was also held at St. Michael’s primary school and attended by a record-breaking number of children. 185 Year One children from St Michael's, Ronald Ross, Albemarle, Our Lady Queen of Heaven and Southmead took part in the event in St Michael's field and were led by 21 leaders from Year 6.

In total 820 young people have taken part in the Multi Skills Festival and the SSP has received extemely positive feedback from teachers, parents and all the children involved.
