Four teams of Sixth Form girls descended on Graveney school to battle it out to be Girls Football Champions 2009 on 18th November.
And what a battle it was! (Until it got dark!!!)
Graveney (2 teams), Chestnut Grove and Southfields were certainly out to prove that girls play football just as well as the boys. There was aggression, rocketing shots on goal as well as finesse and losing wasn't on any of their minds!
End to end battles for two games each saw Graveney A finish in fourth, Southfields take third place, Graveney B claim second and Chestnut Grove were crowned the winners. Unfortunately due to the evenings getting dark so early and the lack of a groundsman, we had to stop the tournament early. The girls chose to decide the placings there and then and we are hoping to hold another sixth form girls football tournament next term.
Thanks to Carly Briggs and Graveney for hosting the tournament.
