The Wandsworth Primary Schools’ Key Steps Gymnastics Festival was held on Monday 22nd March at Southfields Community College.
The Festival – which saw two competitions take place: one for years 3/4 and one for years 5/6 – has now become a permanent fixture in the Wandsworth competition calendar.
This years’ Beginners Festival saw over 115 pupils take part – many for the first time – with each competitor performing both a vault and a floor routine. Each young gymnast had spent the last few weeks prior to the competition learning, practising and perfecting the routines and they all performed brilliantly in front of the judges and spectators alike.
Schools were invited to send teams of five with all gymnasts’ scores counting towards their Schools’ total.
13 schools took part in the Festival. The top three in each competition were:
Year 3/4 Beginners Competition
1. All Saints Primary School
2. Belleville Primary School
3. Falconbrook Primary School
Year 5/6 Beginners Competition
1. Belleville Primary School
2. Heathmere Primary School
3. Falconbrook Primary School
