On the 9th June we held the first of our annual cluster Year 6 Athletic competition at Wimbledon Park and had 7 Primary schools participating.
Each participating school had to field a boys and girls team for both track and field events. The field events saw the competitors have to undertake Shot Put, Javelin, Cricket Ball, Discus, Speed Bounce, Standing Long Jump as well as the traditional Long Jump into a sand pit. Children scored points for their school in their first favoured event before rotating to experience a second field event.
After lunch the track events got underway with girls and boys competing in the 60m, 100m and 400m distances. Each school also fielded a girls and boys 4 x 100m relay team.
The event was a huge success with great skill and determination on show throughout the day. Results were very close with schools finishing in the below order:
1st Honeywell
2nd St. Josephs
3rd Swaffield
4th St. Michael’s
5th St Ann’s
6th Ronald Ross
7th Sheringdale
A big thank you to all staff and parents who helped out and came along to support.
