Girls are inspired by Dare2Dance

Dare2Dance is a ground-breaking project that empowers young women aged between 14-24, through the medium of Hip Hop and Street Dance, and they came to Wandsworth this month.

Elliott School hosted an empowerment day for 70 14-16 year old girls on 9th February, and South Thames College hosted an empowerment day for 45 16-19 year old young women on 16th February.

Both events were a huge success, the young women learning different styles of hip hop in practical sessions and performing their routines to their peers.  They were also treated to an inspirational performance from the D2D crew, a spectacle of many different Hip Hop styles.  The D2D crew also explained, through dance and narration, the history of Hip Hop and women’s role in the development of it through the past 5 decades.

All the students that attended were inspired by the D2D crew and many will be attending the hip hop dance programme that will be running at Elliott School after half term.
