Honeywell, Belleville & Holy Ghost Victorious

Honeywell, Belleville and Holy Ghost are the first Wandsworth schools to qualify for the London School Games Finals to held at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in April 2014.

Honeywell boys won through in a fiercely competitive Football competition that involved a massive 32 teams. By defeating St Boniface in the final, Honeywell will now go on to represent Wandsworth in the London finals. They will be joined by the Girls from Belleville who won through by a golden goal in a thrilling Wandsworth final against Brandlehow. 19 schools took part in the girls event, which was a record turnout.

32 teams competed in the two Wandsworth Tag Rugby competitions with the winning teams qualifying for the Wandsworth Grand Final. Belleville and Holy Ghost won their repective competitions and the right to contest the Grand Final under the floodlights at Southfields Academy.

The game was refereed by Alex Fieldhouse from the RFU, who oversaw a high quality game of free flowing passing rugby. By the end of twenty minutes, the teams were level with 10 tries each. A deciding period of extra time was pl;ayed with Belleville started with possesion. However, a ball turnover followed by a fantastic run and try by Holy Ghost meant they were victorious. Alex said, "The try was a fitting end to a thrilling game of rugby." Holy Ghost will now represent Wandsworth in the London School Games Final.
