Heartbreak for Team Wandsworth in Panathlon

Team Wandsworth put in a magnificent performance to become the joint winners of the West London Panathlon final at St Mary's University in Twickenham. The team made up of students from Linden Lodge and Oak Lodge schools excelled in the multi sport event for young disabled people beating the teams from Merton & Kingston. However, they missed out on a place in London Final which will be held in the Copperbox in the Olympic Park on a cruel countback ruling.

Despite having the same points as the Sutton Team, Wandsworth had won one less event than their opponents who will now go on to London Final in June. However, this did not dappen the teams spirits who happily received their medals from the Panathlon Patrons and Paralympians, Helen Turner and Louise Sugden, both GB Wheelchair basketball players.

Tim Richmond, Team Manager said he was "It had been a fantastic team performance. While getting so close to qualifying for the final was slightly disappointing, I am extremely proud of the whole team".
