Hearing Impaired /Visually Impaired World Cup Football Festival

Southfields Academy hosted the second Hearing Impaired /Visually Impaired Football Festival on 27thJune. 31 students from 4 separate schools took park in the event that sought to celebrate the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The event was run in partnership with the Panathlon Challenge and Chelsea Football Club who provided coaching sessions for the students. Players then took part in an exciting penalty shoot-out competition, before playing in some competitive football matches.

Inclusive Cricket London Final at Lord’s Cricket Ground

The final of the Inclusive Cricket competition organised in partnership between the Project Ability Programmes in London, The ECB and London Youth Games proved to be a great success. Following the qualifying rounds, two schools from each region qualified to play in the final at Lord’s. Southfields Academy entered an inclusive team on behalf of Central London and ended up coming 4thoverall. The competition was excellent for all involved and definitely a way forward for providing inclusive opportunities for young disabled people to play cricket.

Multi Sport Festival in Westminster

Nick Miller & Tim Richmond provided an inclusive Multi Sport Festival in partnership with Westminster Sports Unit at Moberley Sports Centre. Students from College Park School took part in three inclusive sports including Boccia, New Age Kurling and Adapted Cricket.

Primary Panathlon at Southfields Academy

On  15thJuly, Southfields Academy and Panathlon Challenge hosted the first ever Primary Panathlon for SEND students in Wandsworth. On the day we were joined by Tim Prendergast, Paralympian Gold Medalist and Robbie Williams from the GB Special Olympics.  The event was a fantastic success with students from Broadwater, Furzedown, Penwortham and Linden Lodge taking part in 8 different adapted activities that were led by sports leaders from Southfields, Ark Academy Putney and Graveney.
