Battersea Boys are Basketball Champions!

Congrats to Harris Academy Battersea who were crowned London School Games Basketball champions in the under-16 male competition. Well done Sarah and the team for coming through two high scoring encounters against Haggerston School and Harris Academy South Norwood, to bring gold back for Wandsworth!

The final proved to be a high quality encounter but the Wandsworth team got ahead in the first half and never let their lead slip eventually taking the win 89-72.

Harris Academy Battersea team manager Sarah McDermott said: “For the past few years we’ve been coming like second, third, fourth that kind of category so to win it is very overwhelming. I’m very proud of my boys. I think they need to run more competitions like this because we’ve got a lot of kids that want to play basketball. I think these competitions are great.”

The Harris Academy Battersea U16 Girls & U14 Girls both lost out in the  the quarter finals of their respective competition. While Saint John Bosco U14 Boys were beaten in the first qualifying round against a strong Carshalton Boys team.
