Year 3/4 Girls Football Festival

Eighteen Schools, 153 Girls and Haydon the Womble took part in the first ever AFC Wimbledon Year 3/4 Girls Football Festival at Southfields Academy on 5th October. The event run in partnership with the Wandsworth School Games was a celebration of the launch of a new FA Girls Football Development Centre supported by the FA and Youth Sport Trust. At the festival, the girls from Wandsworth primary schools learnt new footballing skills from AFC Wimbledon Foundation coaches.

Kasha Petit , Female development and Health officer from AFC Wimbledon Foundation opened the event by welcoming all, she said "It was a great opportunity for the girls to learn new skills, make new friends but most importantly to have fun playing football"

Nick Miller, School Games Organiser said; "It was fantastic to see so many girls come along and show such enthusiasm in playing football. The AFC Wimbledon coaches and sport leaders from Southfields Academy were excellent and a fun time was had by all. Haydon the Womble turning up was an added bonus"
