Southfields Sporting Champions Festival

Southfields Academy the annual Inclusive Sporting Champions festival for young students in the borough. 34 children from Burntwood, Linden Lodge, Garratt Park and Southfields schools took part in the event led by the AFC Wimbledon Scholars and sports leaders from Southfields Academy 6th Form.

At the festival the students took part in a circuit of adapted games such as New Age Kurling, Adapted Cricket, Sitting Volleyball, and bean bag target throwing.

The event was organised by Mr Miller, Mr Philpott and Mr Knezevic from Southfields Academy as part of the Central London Project Ability programme.

Mr Miller said, "It was fantastic to see so many of the students taking part in the games and enjoying themselves at the same time. He also praised the sports leaders working with the younger children. It is not easy to provide activities for students with a wide range of disabilities, but the leaders were excellent and ensured that all the children were involved and had fun".

Well done to everyone who made today such a great event.
