The Roche managed a great double victory in the new look Wandsworth School Games Hi 5 Netball competitions in 2019. By winining the A & B competitions on Grand Finals day at Southfields Academy, they became worthy champions.
On Monday 28th January, pupils from 12 schools entering 16 teams into the Heat one at Burntwood School with Umpires from Wandsworth Netball Club officiating all matches with Sports Leaders from Burntwood helping to run the tournament. On the day we ran an A competition and B competition, with the children all playing lots of fantastic netball. The final placings for Heat One were: 1st The Roche, 2nd Holy Ghost, 3rd Honeywell in the A competion. The B event, the Roche came first with Allfarthing in Silver and St Michael's picking up the bronze medals.
Heat 2 was held on Tuesday 5th Feb, with a further 18 schools and 22 teams competing to see who would qualify for the grand final. Following another great day of netball the places were as follows: 1st Prospect House, 2nd Roehampton Church, 3rd St Boniface. In the B competition, Honeywell came out on top, with the Roche C team in 2nd place and Roehampton B in third.
Therefore , the Grand Final matches were as follows:
A Final - The Roche A v Prospect House
B Final - The Roche B v Honeywell B
As mentioned earlier, The Roche ran out winners in both finals and their A team will go on to represent Wandsworth in the London School Games final on 28th March.
