Sheringdale clinch an all Wandsworth Final!

Brandlehow Primary School and Sheringdale Primary School cricket teams made they way to The Brit Oval on Friday 26th February to play in the South London Capital Kids Cricket League final.

Met with a few rule changes, the teams were not perturbed and were soon fired up for the competition!

Both teams cruised through the group stages undefeated, with decisive running between the wickets, accurate bowling and remarkable fielding.  Having both finished on top of their groups, they played the second place teams from the opposite group in the semi-finals.  Again, Brandlehow and Sheringdale demonstrated great skills and tactical knowledge to progress to an ALL Wandsworth final.

When realising that the competition winners would then be playing at Lords, the home of English cricket, the teams started to get really excited.  It was a great start from Sheringdale, taking 3 wickets in the first over, but Brandlehow levelled it out with some quick singles.  Although Sheringdale's tactic was to defend when batting, Brandlehow took some crucial wickets to leave the supporters not knowing who was in front!  A close game in every aspect was clinched by Sheringdale who won by 10 runs.

Congratulations to an undefeated Sheringdale who now progress to the London wide finals at Lords on 23 March, and congratulations to Brandlehow for the standard of cricket displayed throughout the afternoon and a great fight in the final.  Both teams should be very proud of the sportsmanship they showed during the competition, and Wandsworth SSP would like to say thank you to the support they received from teachers and parents.
