Wandsworth SSP Orienteering Week 15th – 19th

During the week leading up to Sport Relief on Friday 19th March, the Partnership held three Orienteering fun days throughout the borough. In the lead up to these events schools had been given the opportunity to access orienteering and OAA activities on their own school site through their SSCo’s, to help prepare for the event.

The Orienteering fun days were organised and led by Don McKerrow and his team and supported by the SSCo’s.

The days were split into three sessions, with schools given a choice of time slots to choose from and allowed to bring a whole class to participate.

The first event took place on Tuesday 16th March at Wandsworth Common and was the busiest of the three events. It was attended by Belleville, Allfarthing, Honeywell, Ronald Ross, Fircroft, Holy Ghost and St. Faiths, who brought two classes.

Wednesday 17th was held at Battersea Park and had children from Westbridge taking part in a number of challenges. Children were put through their paces, having to complete a Star course, naughty Numbers challenge and both a short and long course around the park.

The final day was held at Wimbledon Park on the 19th and saw classes from St. Michael’s, Our Lady Queen of Heaven and two from Sheringdale.

The events proved to be very successful and will continue to be an annual Wandsworth SSP highlight.
