Putney Cluster Athletics Competition 2010

After a successful Athletics Day last week for the Southfields/Wandsworth area it was time for Putney/Roehampton to strut their stuff.  Brandlehow, Granard, Heathmere and St Mary's all made the journey which made for a great carnival atmosphere.  Unfortunately the day was cut a little short, but all the events took place nonetheless.  Each student participated in at least 1 field event and at least one track race during the day.

First rotation was the field events.  Students from each school participated in: Long Jump, Speed Bounce, Standing Long Jump, Shot Putt, Javelin, Discus and Cricket ball throw; all winning valuable points for their school in the overall standings.  At the completion of the field rotation only 4 points separated 1st place and 4th place (St Mary's 38, Heathmere 37, Granard 35, Brandlhow 34).  The track races were going to be vital!

After all was said and done all that was left was to know the result.  In first place with 119 points was St Mary's, second place 113 points Heathmere, third place 110 points Brandlehow and fourth place with 104 was Granard.  Hopefully next year more schools will be available to attend and we can build on this great event.  Thank you and congratulations to all those involved during the successful day.
