Battersea Primary Athletics

On Wednesday 7th July 2010, five Primary schools sent their Year 6 classes to the Battersea Millennium Arena to attend the Battersea Cluster Inter-School  Athletics Competition.  Sir James Barrie, Christchurch, Chesterton, St George’s and Wix all attended to see who could claim the title as Battersea’s best overall Athletes.

The event, coordinated by SSCO Ashley Montgomery and assisted by SSCO’s Jedd Lloyd and Karel Hutter, PDM Nick Miller and assistant PDM Jenna Luiten, saw the students undertake Shot Putt, Javelin, Long Jump, Standing Long Jump, Cricket Ball Throw, Speed Bounce and Discus in the field.  After a lunch break, the students then took to the track to compete in the 400m, 100m and 60m then finished with the much anticipated 4x100m relay.

The results for the day saw Sir James Barrie take the overall trophy, with Christchurch 2nd, St George's 3rd, Wix 4th and Chesterton 5th.  Thank you to all the staff and students who attended the event and although a warm day, put in their all in everything they competed in, which made for a great event.  Thank you to the Wandsworth School Sports Partnership team for their assistance in running the event and many thanks to the Battersea Millennium Arena staff for allowing us to use their brilliant facility.
