X Country

Over 500 Children from Wandsworth Primary schools took part in three Cross Country events organised by the Wandsworth School Sport Partnership. In typical British weather, children aged 7 to 12 braved the arctic conditions to represent their school in the 2 kilometre races.

Runners from Honeywell, Sacred Heart, Wix and Belleville schools set the pace at a wet and windy Wandsworth Common. Despite the poor weather conditions, the runners set an excellent standard for the schools rest of the schools to follow.

The sun came out for the second event at King George's Park. Children from Sheringdale, Heathmere, West Hill, Our Lady Queen of Heaven, St Mary's and Riversdale made the most of the good conditions and produced some great team performances and some fast finishes.

Tooting Bec Common hosted the final cluster event and again high winds and torrential rain did not deter the runners from Holy Ghost, St Anselm's, St Boniface, Penwortham and Furzedown with every runner finishing their race.

Nick Miller, Partnership Development Manager for the Wandsworth School Sport Partnership said, “The events have been a success with some excellent performances from individual runners and teams. It was also great to see everyone finishing the races in such determined style”.

The winning teams from each event will now be invited along to the Wandsworth Cross Country final on 2nd December at King George's Park.
