Congratulations to Fabio Gouveia (Battersea Park School) who was awarded Young Volunteer of the Year Award at the Active Wandsworth Awards 2010, held at the Civic Suite in Wandsworth on 23 March.
Fabio is a keen, committed and enthusiastic volunteer in sport, and is always seeking to develop his skills and experience. In 2010 he coached the Year 8 boys football team at Battersea Park School, refereed the Battersea Schools Football league, and helped run School Sport Partnership events throughout the year. He gained his Football Association Level 1, and First Aid qualifications. Fabio has also single handedly helped to establish the under 18’s team at FC Porto of London. With two weeks to go before the beginning of the season Fabio recruited 20 members to ensure the team could enter the league. His enthusiasm and people skills have since been noted as he has been elected to the club’s board in an Athlete Liaison role, trouble shooting any problems, strong recognition for one so young.
As you can see from above, Fabio is committed to volunteering in sport both at school and in the community. He is has been a great asset to the Wandsworth Leadership Academy, and in reward has been selected to attend the Step into Sport Camp at Loughborough University in April. We hope that this provides Fabio with great opportunities in the future.
