Orienteering Challenges go Red Nose Crazy!

21 Primary schools took part in Orienteering Challenges across Wandsworth in March.  Over 520 children tackled the Naughty Numbers course, the Star Course and a timed Medium Course at Bishop’s Park, Battersea Park, Wandsworth Common or Wimbledon Park.

Not only were there some very fast times, but many children new to Orienteering took to the challenge like a duck to water.  Wandsworth’s orienteering guru, Don McKerrow was very impressed at the standard of orienteering.

Participating schools also stepped up to the fundraising challenge set by Wandsworth SSP this year.  As the events took place so close to Red Nose Day, we wanted to join in and Do Something Funny for Money!  Running around the parks dressed in red clothes, red accessories, monster outfits, dyed hair and red noses definitely earned us some funny looks and many schools went all out and even the teachers dressed up!  Schools did such an amazing job of collecting cash that we raised over £620 in total for Comic Relief.

Congratulations to all schools that took part, a fabulous effort was made by children and staff, and we definitely brought an element of style to orienteering!

Thanks to Don, Josh, Chris and Christine that ran the challenges for us.
