Penwortham are shooting stars!

Penwortham ran out winners in the new look Wandsworth School Games 3v3 Basketball competition for Primary Schools. This year the event was run with a programme of 4 cluster events to encourage more schools to enter the competition. 

10 schools and 20 teams in total competed in the events held at the following venues:Southfields Academy, Battersea Sports Centre, Penwortham Primary School & Hotham Primary Schools.

Schools were invited to enter the cluster competition closest to them with the winning team from each cluster competition qualifying for the final. The following schools won through to the final held on Wed 4th June at Southfields Academy:

Broadwater, Shaftesbury Park, Penwortham & Hotham each womn their respective cluster competition and contested the final.

Following a great round robin competition, Shaftesbury Park beat Broadwater in the 3rd/4th Play off game. At the same time Hotham and Penwortham played in a nailbitingly close final to see who would become Wandsworth champions. in the end Penwortham ran out narrow winners by 7 points to 6.

Congratulations to everyone involved and also to the sports leaders from Battersea Park Basketball Academy & Southfields Academy who officitated at all the events.

Good luck to Penwortham who will go on to represent Wandsworth in the London School Games final on 3rd July.
