Wandsworth Inclusive Rowing Challenge

The Wandsworth School Games, Inclusive Indoor Rowing was hosted at Southfields Academy on 30thJanuary 2023. This was organised by the Wandsworth School Games in partnership with Enable Leisure & Barn Elms Boat House. 29 young people from three schools participated; one secondary school and two special schools. School taking part were Southfields Academy, Paddock and Garratt Park.

This event was also supported by two sixth form students from Southfields, as part of their work experience placement. Caroline Murray and Cairon Clarke-May worked extremely hard on the day, setting up the rowing machines prior to the event. They then took control of the scoring system by designing a score board to allocate which rowing machine each child had to row in.  Once each race was completed they showcased the distance each individual had rowed in the allocated two minutes. In addition they kept a summary of the overall scores & times from each race at the bottom of the board

This event was an inclusive event for young people with SEND and disabilities. Everyone participated and enjoyed themselves, leaving the event with bright smiles.
