It was fantastic to see 22 schools competing in the Wandsworth School Games Sportshall Athletics 2022 after a two year gap due to the Covid -19 pandemic. Thanks. also to our amazing sports leaders from Burntwood School.
With four events taking place over a couple of days in January at Tooting Leisure Centre and Battersea Sports Centre, schools competed to find out who would be Wandsworth Champions. With every team arriving with eighteen athletes (nine boys and nine girls). Each competitor had to take part in two track (relays/races) and two field (throws/jumps) events. All of the scores from each event would contribute to the school’s overall total so it was essential that every individual did their utmost to gain points for their team.
Ravenstone's strong all-round performance resulted in them claiming first place overall with Sacred Heart finishing in a well-deserved second place.
When all the results were combined, the final standings were as follows:
1st Ravenstone - Champions
2nd Sacred Heart
3rd Holy Ghost
However, most importantly, it was great to see so many young people and their teachers enjoyiing this amazing event. Congratulations to evetyone who took part in this great event.
Following on from their victory, we are pleasde to announce that Ravenstone went on to win the South London qualifying round and therefore will represent Wandsworth in the London final on 22nd March at Redbridge. We would like to wish them luck in finals.
